Free lawn care invoice template

Lawn care is a numbers game of small, repeated jobs. Each invoice has to be quick to write, but clear enough that a customer who sees a handful of lines every month knows exactly what they paid for. The template below covers a typical visit: mowing, edging, a fertilizer treatment and a cleanup.

Edit the example, save the PDF and send it from your truck, with no account and nothing leaving your browser. If you also build gardens and patios, the landscaping invoice template fits project work better.

    What goes on it

What to put on an invoice for lawn care businesses

    • The service address, and the dates of each visit if you bill several at once
    • Each service as a line: mowing, edging, trimming, fertilizing, weed control, aeration, cleanups
    • The per-visit price and the number of visits, so a monthly invoice is easy to check
    • One-off extras like cleanups, mulch or hedge work billed separately from the routine
    • Chemicals or treatments applied, with your applicator license if your state requires it
    • The due date and how to pay (card, Apple Pay or bank transfer)

    How you bill

    How lawn care businesses bill

Most lawn care is a flat price per visit, set by lot size and how often you come. Weekly customers are often billed monthly for all the visits in that month, which keeps paperwork low and cash steady. One-off jobs such as a spring cleanup, aeration or a fertilizer round are priced as a separate line, because they are not part of the routine.

Fertilizer and weed control are usually billed as seasonal programs in four to six rounds, either per round or as a prepaid package. If you send the same invoice to the same customer every month, recurring invoices save you retyping it, and payment reminders catch the customers who forget.

    Get paid faster

    Tips to get paid faster

    1. Bill monthly in advance or at month end instead of per visit. Fewer invoices means fewer chances for one to be forgotten.
    2. Put the visit dates in the description or project field, so the customer can see exactly when you were there.
    3. Keep extras on their own line. A cleanup that is clearly labeled does not look like a price increase.
    4. Set a short due date, such as 10 days, because the amounts are small and slow payment adds up across many customers.
    5. Ask regulars to pay by card so you are not chasing small checks. A payment link on the invoice makes that one tap, see online payments.

    Watch out

    Common invoice mistakes

    • Sending one big invoice for the whole season with no breakdown of visits
    • Changing the per-visit price without telling the customer first
    • Mixing taxable and non-taxable services without checking the rules in your state
