What goes on it
What to put on an invoice for pest control companies
- Your pest control business license and the applicator license number where your state requires it
- The service address and the date of the treatment
- The pests targeted, so the record explains the treatment
- The areas treated: interior rooms, perimeter, attic, crawl space or yard
- The service type: initial treatment, quarterly maintenance, one-time visit or inspection
- Follow-up visits and your guarantee or re-treatment policy
- Safety notes for people and pets, and the total with how to pay
How you bill
How pest control companies bill
Pest control is mostly flat-rate by service. An initial treatment costs more because it covers inspection and the first full application. After that, customers often move to a quarterly or monthly maintenance plan at a lower price. Specialty work, such as termites, bed bugs or wildlife removal, is quoted separately because the scope and follow-up vary widely.
Include the guarantee in the price rather than charging for it, and say so on the invoice: "Free retreatment within 60 days" is a selling point. Subscription plans are paid on a schedule, which makes recurring invoices a good match: the invoice repeats each quarter without you retyping it.

Tips to get paid faster
- Always list the pests treated and areas covered. It is a record for you and for any later dispute or complaint.
- Mention your guarantee on every invoice. It reassures customers and cuts the calls asking whether the treatment worked.
- Offer a maintenance plan on the invoice for the next visit. It is the cheapest way to turn a one-time customer into a regular one.
- Collect payment at the visit. Treatments are a service customers value most right after you finish, so offer card payment on the spot.
- Keep service records for the period your state requires, and send the invoice as the customer's copy.
Watch out
Common invoice mistakes
- Billing a follow-up visit that you promised as free, then having to explain a credit note
- Leaving off the license number, which some customers and landlords require on paperwork
- Not stating the guarantee terms, so customers assume a lifetime promise
